What's LLDPE Rotational Molding?
LLDPE (Linear Low-Density Polyethylene) Rotational Molding is a manufacturing process used to create hollow, seamless, and durable plastic products. Zero Polymer specializes in providing high-quality LLDPE materials, including their well-known 3840 grade, designed specifically for rotational molding applications.
What's Rotational Molding?
Rotational molding (commonly called roto-molding) is a process that involves heating and rotating a mold to evenly coat its interior with molten plastic. The result is a uniform, seamless, and highly durable product.

Rotational Molding Process Steps
- Resin Loading: Zero Polymer’s LLDPE 3840 powder is loaded into a hollow mold.
- Heating Phase: The mold rotates slowly in multiple directions while heated, allowing the powder to melt and spread evenly along the mold walls.
- Cooling Phase: The mold is cooled using air or water spray to solidify the plastic.
- Demolding: The finished product is carefully removed from the mold.

Rotational Molding Process with HDPE 3840:
In the rotational molding process, a pre-measured amount of HDPE 3840 powder is placed into a mold, which is then heated and rotated along two perpendicular axes. This biaxial rotation ensures even distribution of the molten polymer along the mold’s interior surfaces, resulting in a uniform wall thickness. After the material has fully melted and coated the mold, it is cooled gradually, solidifying into the desired shape. This method is particularly effective for creating large, hollow, and complex products with consistent wall thickness and structural integrity.
Applications:
Due to its exceptional properties, HDPE 3840 is widely used in various industries for applications such as:
- Storage Tanks and Containers: Its chemical resistance and durability make it suitable for manufacturing water tanks, barrels, and other storage solutions.
- Recreational Products: The material’s impact resistance and UV stability are ideal for producing kayaks, canoes, and other outdoor recreational equipment.
- Industrial and Agricultural Bins: HDPE 3840’s strength and durability make it suitable for heavy-duty bins and crates used in industrial and agricultural settings.
